Fiber-Optic Light Source
Braided Light – Hand Crafted Tradition – Modern Design
MACBEAM is a hand woven optical fiber belt that emits delicate omnidirectional light over its entire surface area. This revolutionary fiber product allows you to create your most imaginable and unlimited designs.
MACBEAM fine fiber optics are woven by hand by experienced weavers in Kyoto, the ancient and cultural capital of Japan. Kyoto’s famous textile district of Nishijin can trace it’s weaving history back over 1200 years and is where MACBEAM fiber optics are born.
MACBEAM combines traditional Japanese artistry with modern solid state technology to produce a completely new lighting material.
With MACBEAM you can create elegant lighting in a multitude of colors. MACBEAM is a new lighting tool that lets you design lighting without the limitations of conventional fiber optics. Nothing can compare to MACBEAM.

OUTDOOR 3D OBJECTS
Since MACBEAM fiber only transmits light and no electricity or heat, it can be safely applied to a multitude of 3D objects. MACBEAM fiber’s pliable nature makes it very easy to handle and cover natural formations such as trees, rock formations, and topiary without any damage.
Manmade structures of metal, fiberglass, or synthetics can be attached mechanically or with epoxy resin adhesives for permanent displays. Objects that appear plain during daylight hours will come to life at night with MACBEAM.
MACBEAM can be attached using a variety of methods. Fishing line, Zip ties, double-back adhesive tape, or epoxy resin adhesives can all be used to mount MACBEAM depending upon the medium you are attaching it to and the complexity of your project. The MACBEAM fiber harness can then be connected to one of Ushio’s light source options.
