With a background in Financial Planning & Analysis and Corporate Planning, he has overseen numerous departments such as Sales, Finance, Engineering, Customer Service, and more. He is extremely proud and humbled to be able to lead such a successful group of people who have increased not only revenue, but also broadened our product portfolio, solidified relationships with customers, and built a reputation enabling the sales team to be truly confident about the products that they sell. It is a remarkable achievement and an honor to join such a prosperous organization. It is no wonder that we have been around for over 50 years and will strive to be around for another 50 years.
He began working for Ushio America’s parent company, Ushio Inc., in 1989. He is experienced in sales and business development of light sources for new applications and markets. Shinji Joined Ushio America in 2013 as a General Manager of Business Development, Emerging Technologies then served as CEO between 2014 and 2017. He has been involved in the development of the world’s first filtered Far UV-C disinfection technology called Care222® while serving as COO since 2017. Shinji enjoys working with talented colleagues and great customers.
Throughout his career, he has developed and produced various kind of light sources, like various UV lamps, laser driven Xenon and super high pressure Mercury lamps, LED and laser products, and excimer lamps.
He has extensive knowledge and experience of application related questions of these lamps including drivers, measurements and regulatory questions.
He is leading the technical, scientific and regulatory efforts of Ushio America Inc. to introduce 222nm lamps into the scientific community and the market. He has written multiple scientific papers and white papers related to the application of 222nm Filtered Far-UVC technology and presented at various international conferences.
In her role as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, Ako oversees the companies’ legal, compliance, risk management, and corporate governance matters. With more than 20 years of legal, regulatory, and compliance experience in highly regulated industries and global organizations, Ako has a deep expertise in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating risks as a strategic advisor. Born and raised in Japan with higher education in the U.S., Ako is fully bilingual in English and Japanese and understands the importance of cultural sensitivity.
With a background in Mechanical Engineering, he has always loved the technology that goes into making our products. After working at Ushio for over 20 years, he has learned to love the science of light. The number and variety of applications our customers use our products for astounds him. He’s pleased to lead a bright group of dedicated and innovative workers to meet our customers’ needs.
Michelle joined Ushio America, Inc. in 1987 and it has been an amazing journey. She‘s fortunate to be a part of such an innovative company focusing on developing systems and processes to improve our overall operational efficiency and corporate value. She’s honored to lead our high performing service-oriented teams of Customer Service, Logistics and Material Control in providing our external and internal customers with the quality service they deserve.
