Ushio is pleased to announce the start of sample shipments of the HL85022MG Series, laser diodes (LDs) that offer high optical output power, high efficiency, and excellent beam quality as infrared light sources for use in night vision and distance measurement sensors.
LDs using wavelengths in the infrared range have been applied in a wide range of fields, including telecommunications, metrology and medicine.
In particular, infrared LDs in the 800 nm infrared range are used as light sources for infrared illumination applications such as night vision and as sensor light sources for distance measurement, as represented by triangulation and 3D sensing.
Based on its unique design technology, Ushio currently offers a lineup of 50mW with high quality beam characteristics in the 830nm and 852nm range, which have been highly valued by many users.
In recent years, there has been growing demand for longer range and higher performance in night vision applications, as well as the practical application of LDs for long-distance measurement sensors using the ToF (Time of Flight) method.
And to respond to these market trends, further increase of optical output power and efficiency is required without sacrificing good beam quality in the relevant wavelength band.
Therefore, Ushio reviewed the conventional chip structure and newly developed the HL85022MG series with a wavelength of 850 nm by redesigning the conventional chip structure and expanded optical output power up to 250 mW with maintaining Gaussian-like good beam quality.
In order to meet a wide range of ambient temperatures, the operating temperature range has been expanded from -10 to 60°C to -20 to 75°C, which allows for use in a wide range of applications in both cold and hot areas.
With this additional line-up added to its 800 nm band product range, Ushio will contribute to safer, more secure society in the future.
