Dear Customers and Suppliers,
We know that you have been following the events related to the COVID-19 pandemic with feelings of concern and uncertainty. We share your concerns as there are rapidly changing executive orders and guidance on local, state, federal, and international levels.
Over the last few weeks, many state and local governments have issued “shelter in place” orders prohibiting or restricting non-essential activities in many states where we manufacture, sell, and/or conduct business. Under these orders, companies that operate in one or more of the 16 Critical Infrastructure sectors may remain open. Based on our review with our legal counsel and, based on the guidance currently in place, we believe that Ushio America, Inc. and Necsel Intellectual Property, Inc. (collectively “Ushio”) operate within or supply customers in several Critical Infrastructure sectors identified. These sectors include: Critical Manufacturing, Healthcare/Public Health, Defense Industrial Base, Communications and Information Technology, Food and Agriculture, Water and Wastewater, Energy, Transportation and Logistics.
Ushio therefore plans to continue with on-site physical operations with appropriate safeguards, such as implementing social distancing policies and other COVID-19 mitigation measures identified by the CDC and having employees work from home if their job responsibilities can be performed remotely. As a result, our facilities will remain operational in order to continue providing products and services in the above-mentioned Critical Infrastructure sectors.
Although our products and services are critical, the safety and security of our workforce is of paramount importance to us. We have been monitoring this rapidly evolving situation closely, and management is in constant dialogue about how best to protect the safety and health of our employees and maintain the continuity and quality of our business.
Even while we remain operational, we are taking numerous steps to ensure that our workplace is safe. It is imperative that all employees do their part and take all appropriate precautions to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus in our workplace.
Please let us know if you have any questions or if there is anything, we can help you with.
Sincerely,
William F. Mackenzie
